What does your job as biostatistician at Rijk Zwaan look like?
As a biostatistician, you are responsible for answering statistical questions. Most of these questions will come from colleagues within the research and breeding departments, but also other (business-related) departments would like to count on your expertise. As such, you will be involved in:
  • Setting up experimental designs;
  • Analyzing the results coming from these experiments;
  • Writing reports on the results of these analyses;
  • Investigating and developing new analytical methodologies and models;
  • Developing tools (together with other colleagues) that stimulate the application statistical modeling within Rijk Zwaan.
Your contribution
You bring analytical insight and a solution-oriented mindset. You know to ask the right questions and you dare to be critical. You like to take the initiative, you enjoy helping colleagues and you have good communication skills.
In addition, we can find the following on your resume:
  • A completed university degree (MSc) with a substantial statistical component in the field of plant breeding, ecology, biology, population genetics or (bio) statistics;
  • A completed PhD research in one of these directions is an advantage;
  • Experience with scripting in R;
  • Preferably experience with other statistical packages such as Genstat;
  • Proficiency in English in word and writing.
What can you expect from us?
As biostatistician, you will be based within the department of Quantitative Genetics. This team, currently consisting of eleven people, is working on (research) questions with a basis in genetics, statistics or artificial intelligence.
