What will your job as Breeding Manager at Rijk Zwaan entail?
Together with your fellow Breeding Manager you will be responsibile for the process-based management of the breeding programmes and the department’s long-term vision and strategy. You will keep abreast of developments in cultivation practices and be responsible for implementing the latest innovations. You will maintain contact with various other departments within Rijk Zwaan, such as the commercial teams, research departments, seed production and crop care. You will manage the team jointly with your fellow Breeding Manager and enjoy coaching and setting challenges for people.
What you will bring to the job
You take a creative and innovative approach and have very good communication skills. You have natural managerial skills that enable you to be an inspiring coach. You enjoy working with your fellow Breeding Manager but also with other departments, so you know what is happening in your team, the organisation and the market. You are willing to travel regularly for your work (around 10 weeks a year).
We would also expect to see the following on your CV:
- At least a university degree, in Plant Sciences
- At least five years’ experience of work in plant breeding or plant research
- Demonstrable management skills and/or experience
- Excellent command of English

As Breeding Manager you will manage the ‘Aubrika’ department. This department has 37 employees in the Netherlands and 19 abroad and focuses on the development of new varieties, including peppers, aubergines and chillies. As well as a growing international working environment we would offer you:
