The vacancy for a Crop Researcher at Rijk Zwaan
Rijk Zwaan is one of the world’s leading players in vegetable breeding. The specialised breeding team Top Cross is focused on the development of new varieties of carrots, celery, radish and asparagus. Within this role, you will autonomously conduct research projects for the divers crops, which will entail you taking responsibility for the literature study, the research plan, the execution, the data analysis and the reporting. Careful planning is essential in view of the fact that many projects often entail years of research. In this role, you will be working in close collaboration with the Pre-breeder and a fellow Crop Researcher. Furthermore, you will have a lot of contact with the (international) breeding teams and Rijk Zwaan’s research departments for cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, quantitative genetics, phytopathology and seed technology.
We are seeking a Crop Researcher who:
  • Has a MSc qualification, e.g. a degree in Plant Sciences or Biology
  • Is capable of translating complex scientific knowledge into concrete, innovative breeding applications
Furthermore, you are creative, flexible and show lots of initiative. You take a structured approach to working and you have excellent communication and administrative skills.
