How does your job as Teamleader Beneficial Microbes  at Rijk Zwaan look like?
The department Phytopathology Research plays an important role in the development of resistant and resilient crop varieties. Within this position you are responsible for the team that works on developing organic seed treatments. The purpose of these treatments supports the germination of the plant, promotes growth and provides protection against pathogens. You manage a small team of researchers and analysts. They work alternately in the office, in the laboratory, in the greenhouse and in the field. You support and facilitate the development of employees and you are constantly focused on getting the best out of people.
You see and take advantage of (future) research opportunities. Together with your team, you develop a vision and prepare the multi-year plans for the biologicals research group. In addition, as a researcher you are responsible for various (external) research projects.

You have strong people management skills and can build bridges between different people. You understand the importance of long-term relationships and you have an inspirational leadership style which is both people- and results-oriented. You have lots of initiative and autonomy, but above all you’re a real team player. You have strong communications skills and are energetic and enthusiastic. You succeed in getting other people on board with your ideas in an appealing way. We are looking for someone who enjoys coaching and guiding employees. You are able to approach issues from different angles and you naturally like to develop (creative) solutions, opportunities and possibilities. You have strong organisational skills, work in a structured manner and also enjoy taking a pragmatic approach to tackling challenges within an interdisciplinary research environment, keeping all stakeholders aboard. You have excellent English skills and you are willing to learn Dutch.
 
In addition, we can find the following on your resume:

  • At least a completed university degree, preferably in the field of plant-microbe interaction;
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience;
  • Knowledge of fundamental biological processes.
