What does your role as IT Project Manager Research look like?
Rijk Zwaan develops and sells new vegetable varieties worldwide. In order to develop the best vegetable varieties, Rijk Zwaan has high-tech research departments. A large team of IT specialists supports the Biotechnology, Phytopathology, and Seed Technology research departments by developing in-house software or implementing off the shelf applications and hardware.
As an IT Project Manager Research, you translate the IT-related questions of R&D colleagues and organize the development/implementation. You initiate and coordinate projects in which we improve or replace our services. In a team of developers and other IT specialist, you are the link to various researchers and facilitate the conversion of (genomics) data streams into information used in the development of new vegetable varieties.
As an IT Project Manager Research, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the Research IT project portfolio
- Guiding new project requests from research, helping to shape project plans, and defining milestones and deliverables, together with stakeholders from the research departments
- Planning and coordinating projects in which software solutions and technology improve research processes
- Continuously improving our development and implementation processes and coordinating with researchers
- Coordinating support and lifecycle management of IT services
- Determining/designing a future-proof IT architecture
- Advising on the applicability of commercial hardware and software

- University degree in the field of IT, Data Science, or Life Sciences
- Knowledge of and affinity for implementing IT systems for operational research processes or research projects

What can you expect from us?
As an IT Project Advisor Research, you will be part of the IMS R&D team. The team consists of 17 specialists who support the various R&D departments (breeding, laboratories, bioinformatics, and quantitative genetics) in developing their software and systems. - A permanent contract for a minimum of 32 hours and a maximum of 38 hours per week
