As Market Development Specialist Crop, you are the central link between the international and local crop organization, breeding programs and the Strategic Crop Team. You combine market insights with product knowledge and translate them into clear strategies. Working closely with colleagues worldwide, you play a key role in portfolio management and product development for Latin America. Your main responsibilities include:

• Developing and coordinating the commercial introduction and trial plans per market segment, including sales objectives and forecasts for commercial and pre-commercial varieties. 
• Actively gathering market and product insights together with a strong network of crop specialists, contributing to commercial strategies and breeding policies 
• Identifying opportunities for new product development 
• Advising the Strategic Crop Team on current activities and future directions 
• Acting locally as client manager for key squash and pumpkin accounts 
• Leading special local projects that add value across the entire value chain, connecting crop and local organizations 

Where will you be working?

Rijk Zwaan is an international family business with a people-oriented corporate culture. Rijk Zwaan is at the beginning of the food chain. We develop fruit and vegetable varieties and sell seeds to growers and other chain partners worldwide. In doing so, we make an important contribution to the global food supply. You will need to be based in The Netherlands 

Your contribution

You are a true team player who knows how to connect and inspire people. With a clear vision and strong communication skills, you can shape and drive crop strategies. You are proactive, analytical and pragmatic, with a strong commercial and market-oriented mindset. International travel energizes you, and you communicate fluently in English (Speaking Spanish is a plus). On your résumé we find: 

• A completed master’s degree in agriculture, such as Horticulture or Biology 
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in sales, horticulture and/or product management 
• Solid knowledge of vegetable production and fruit crops
