Your internship at Rijk Zwaan
In the Brassica breeding department, we work on the development of field vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi and head cabbage. As an intern you will participate in a project of the Brassica and Trait Biology departments, where we apply fundamental knowledge of flowering time to practical breeding programs. Flowering time is a crucial phase in plant development and strongly influences yield. Although the genetic background is well known, this knowledge is still little applied in practice. Your main tasks will include:- Executing and analyzing controlled experiments on flowering time regulation in Brassica crops
- Applying molecular, genetic and tissue culture techniques to modulate flowering signals
- Recording phenotypic data
- Performing statistical analyses
