Nursery Coordinator | Full-time |

Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a dedicated coordinator with expertise in plant propagation to ensure the health and quality of our vegetable seedlings.

Your role at Rijk Zwaan

In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee the daily activities of our nursery, focusing on the quality propagation of vegetable seeds for our Research and Development and Seed Production departments. Your high attention to detail in monitoring plant growth, health, climate and Integrated Pest Management, will ensure robust and thriving plants. Leading a small team of horticultural assistants, you will ensure all tasks are performed to the highest quality standards. The role is diverse, and your organisational skills will be key in coordinating hydroponic processes and ensuring the seed processing team performs accurate and timely seed processing during harvesting months.

You are known for your collaborative nature, proactive and accountable, ensuring you deliver outstanding results. Liaising with international and local teams, communication and planning are crucial to this role. Your quick responses and adaptability enable you to efficiently implement corrective actions while collaborating closely with technical specialists. You actively seek improvements and are open to sharing your ideas. With a passion for sustainability and a love for vegetables, you truly embody what Rijk Zwaan stands for.

  • Relevant qualification in plant sciences/biology or related field
  • Proven experience plant cultivation, particularly in the vegetable industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of plant growth and nursery operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to plant health and hydroponic systems.
  • Experience in leading a team, ensuring productivity, and maintaining a positive work environment
  • Previous experience in hydroponic systems desirable or a willingness to learn
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 and horticultural software
  • Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP) is preferred or willing to obtain

The Australian subsidiary was founded in 1987 and employs 80 people, working across seed production, research and development, and sales, with the majority of our team working in Daylesford.
