How does your job as Breeder Cabbage at Rijk Zwaan look like?

Rijk Zwaan is one of the world’s leading players in the breeding of vegetable varieties. We are looking for a Breeder Cabbage in our team in Marne.  The breeding station Rijk Zwaan Marne is located in northern Germany in the west of Schleswig-Holstein directly on the North Sea coast.

As a Breeder Cabbage, you work in a team that is focused on the development of new and innovative varieties of white, pointed, red and savoy cabbage for the worldwide market. You are responsible for all kinds of breeding tasks such as selection, evaluation, data analyses and reporting on the various selection and variety trials both in Germany and abroad.

You are creative, solution-oriented and like to take initiative. You have an innovative, open mind mentality and are always open to improve and optimize the breeding program. You are a team player that likes to communicate with colleagues in an international work environment. You can stimulate and motivate your colleagues who are keen to implement new breeding techniques using state-of-the-art tools available at Rijk Zwaan. You enjoy analyzing data and looking for creative solutions. Furthermore, you work accurately and in a structured way. On your resume we can find the following:

• minimum an MSc degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics or a similar subject
• minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in a plant breeding and/or research environment
• fluency in English and German
• you have a driver’s license and are willing to travel regularly
