Cucumber Selector

What does your job as Cucumber Selector at Rijk Zwaan look like?

Within the breeding department of Rijk Zwaan we are developing new varieties. As a selector, you assist breeding in generating varieties, creating and selecting the parental lines, contributing for carrying out a trial plan and testing trial hybrids. You will be involved in the practical breeding activities, such as phenotyping, valuating evaluating and reporting on the various selection and variety trials at the station and also externally in the reference regions. 

Your contribution:

You are interested in plant breeding and like to work in the greenhouse and field. You have good planning and organising skills. You are also a good team player and communicator, able to maintain the contacts in our local and international organisation. You are pro-active, entrepreneurial, willing to take initiatives, have an interest in discovering new things, able to solve problems and yet able to keep the focus. You are at good level in speaking and writing both in Turkish as well as in English.

You will also have the following on your CV:

• A BS degree, in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Biotechnology and similar departments with high interest in plant breeding
• Relevant working experience in practical breeding activities, preferably in cucumber crop
• A current driving licence
