Genomic breeder (H/F/X)

What does your position as a Genomic Breeder at Rijk Zwaan look like ?

Rijk Zwaan is a leading global player in the development of vegetable varieties. As a Genomic Breeder, you will be responsible for developing methods and tools for integrating genotypic and phenotypic information during breeding and for performing biostatistical data analyses. These analyses, methods and tools support breeders in making decisions during the development of new varieties. In this position, you work on a project basis and are not only responsible for the content but often act as project leader for the entire process. In addition, you have a lot of contact with other research teams with expertise in bioinformatics, IT, quantitative genetics, molecular biology and image analysis.

You are able to translate complex material into applicable information and methods and to convince colleagues. You are creative, practical and able to identify and lead new projects. Your excellent communication skills are necessary for integrating different disciplines and translating groundbreaking research into breeding practice. You are a senior professional who could address a broad portfolio of crops breed currently in France. You can influence without hierarchical relations. You are close to breeding programs and their practical operation.

In addition, we can find the following on your resume:

- A completed PhD, preferably in the field of quantitative genetics, biostatistics and/or plant breeding, or relevant work experience in this area

- Experience with project management

- Experience in designing and applying genetic studies, breeding and selection methods 

- Given the international nature, command of the English language is a requirement.

As a senior position, we expect that as applicants you have developed a strong experience in the seeds industry.
