Your job at Rijk Zwaan!

As Product Manager Tomato High Tech you are responsible for coordinating the product development for the tomato breeding programmes focusing on high-tech greenhouse horticulture. Together with your colleagues, you work on commercially successful positioning of new and existing varieties in various markets worldwide. Your tasks include: 

  • Translating market information into concrete strategies for breeding projects focused on high-tech markets 
  • Coordinate the introduction, positioning and sales support of new varieties in close cooperation with local crop specialists 

  • Lead focus groups and act as knowledge centre on our high-tech tomato portfolio. 

  • Maintain close contacts with strategic customers and contribute to customer-oriented solutions 

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as breeding, production & supply, crop support, and client managers. 

Where will you be working? 

The head office of Rijk Zwaan is in De Lier, near Delft. An international family business with a people-orientated corporate culture. Rijk Zwaan is at the beginning of the food chain. We develop vegetable varieties and sell their seeds to growers all over the world. From our position we can and want to make a contribution to the world's food supply. 

What do you bring? 

You have a strong affinity with plants and horticulture. Structure, overview and clear communication come easily to you. You are good at making contacts, building long-term relationships and using your commitment to motivate others. You work independently, think commercially and customer-focused, and naturally take the lead in projects. You feel at home in an international environment and like to travel abroad regularly (about once a month). Furthermore, we can find the following on your CV: 

  • A completed WO degree in the direction of Plant Sciences, Agricultural Business Administration or similar 

  • At least 5 years of relevant international work experience, preferably in tomato or another vegetable crop 

  • Experience with product development, projectmanagement and/or portfolio management 

  • Good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing
