How does your job as Trial Assistant at Rijk Zwaan Vietnam look like?

As Trial Assistant, you are an integral part of our trial and evaluation activities, with responsibility for planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating variety trials in different crops. Your work will be carried out in line with the standards, procedures and systems of Rijk Zwaan's breeding department, station team and contributes directly to product advancement and research support.

You work closely with trial and crop teams to ensure accurate trial execution and reliable trial results. Through your observations, reporting and communication, you help breeders and product development teams make informed decisions about future vegetable varieties. 

This entails the following:

• Executing variety trials, including sowing, transplanting, harvesting, testing, sampling and data collection
• Monitoring crop performance and trial progress on a regular basis
• Planning and carrying out phase 1 and phase 2 trial activities together with breeders and trial coordinators
• Collecting, registering and reporting trial evaluation results
• Supporting breeders with reliable qualitative and quantitative data
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with trial partners
• Identifying operational bottlenecks and contributing to continuous improvement of trial processes
• Communicating trial progress and findings to the relevant stakeholders 

Your contribution

You are a practical, enthusiastic and detail-oriented professional with a passion for agriculture and vegetable crops. As a proactive team player, you enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment involving field work and cross-functional colleagues. 

Given the nature of this position, you spend a significant amount of time in the greenhouse and open-field. In addition, we can find the following on your resume:

• A Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field
• Experience in the vegetable or agricultural industry is preferred
• Strong interest in crop cultivation, trial execution and variety evaluation
• Ability to work methodically and independently
• Good planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
• Good communication and relationship-building skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an advantage
• Intermediate English communication skills are an advantage

We have our own Trial Station in Lam Dong and our office in Ho Chi Minh City. The Trial Assistant plays an important role in generating reliable trial data and supporting the development of varieties that meet the needs of growers, consumers and the vegetable value chain in Vietnam.
